Morning Glory

in collaboration with Billy Joe Miller and Littleglobe

Steel, Acrylic

2014

"In October 2014 I began working with Littleglobe a communtiy arts non-profit. 'Littleglobe partners with local, national and international communities to create rigorous artistic works that foster meaningful relationships, empower individuals and communities and reflect the power of our social imagination.'

Morning Glory was part of a larger project called Stories of Route 66: International District, engaging residents of Albuquerque’s International District in collaborative art, creative placemaking, community development and transforming neighborhood spaces. I was asked by the ensemble to lead this project. I worked closely with artist Nina Dubois, Littleglobe, the International District Community, the UNM architecture program and many others. With a lot of help, Nina and I developed and executed a design based on a long process of collaboration with the community that included sharing ideas, drawings and dreams for the neighborhood, all of which which bloomed into the big blue sacred structure." - Billy Joe Miller
